Membership Eligibility

IDSA Membership – Eligibility Criteria

  • Any Direct Selling company operating in India for over one year must trade, manufacture, or distribute FMCG products.
  • If the company only trades products, it must own the brand or have exclusive selling/distribution rights. If it manufactures products or services, it must fully own or control them.
  • The company must follow fair business practices, comply with the Model Code of Ethics, and meet all Indian laws.
  • The company and its promoters must be financially sound.
  • It must agree to the Model Code of Ethics, pay the required fees, and submit all necessary documents with the application.
Membership Categories

Membership Types

IDSA offers three categories of membership — each with clearly defined eligibility criteria, obligations, and privileges. 

Ordinary Members

A Corporate Body / Entity engaged in the business of direct selling that initially joined the Association as a Prospective Member and has completed the minimum time period as a Prospective Member as stated in the Articles. Such members enjoy all the benefits available to full members of the Association.

Prospective Member

A Corporate Body engaged in the business of direct selling whose eventual aim is to apply for Ordinary Membership. A Prospective Member shall remain on probation for a period of one year. Subject to receipt of the membership fee, the membership will be upgraded to “Ordinary Member.” A Prospective Member shall have no voting rights, no right to hold office, and no right to determine the policy of the Association.

Associate Member

An Entity involved in the marketing of products and services that are of benefit to Ordinary Members and Prospective Members; but is not directly involved in running the business of direct selling. As an Associate Member, they shall have no voting rights, no right to hold office, and no right to determine the policy of the Association.
